You play as Admiral Ellys Idaho of the Galactic Empire, awoken from cryogenic clone-sleep by Kaliban, the warden of the distant space station Ghenna. Described by developer Alt Shift as a “tactical rogue-lite”; Crying Suns tests your nerve as much as it demands the careful planning and consideration of each move you make. Crying Suns, developed by Alt Shift and published by Humble Bundle, is an FTL-inspired rogue-lite set in the far future. Crying Suns was released without a lot of hype or fanfare, but has been building up a community of loyal players anyway. This game contains almost all of my favorite points, the plot is thought-provoking, even if I guess some of the ending will make me feel endless.

Crying Suns is a tactical role-playing strategy in the «rogue-lite» genre, in which you have to play the role of a clone of the legendary admiral of the space fleet of the Empire, which for some reason fell in the struggle for survival. Crying Suns is something FTL fans will feel right at home, however, the refreshing combat system, the surprising amount of lore depth and a solid plot to back it all up makes it stand out from the “FTL clone” comparison anyone could throw.
