It’s fairly accessible and open to the general public: making it a must for any hikers tackling Loughrigg Fell or the Rydal … Wordsworth spent most of his life at Rydal Mount, and it's well worth, in fact a must, to go there to understand him in his leisure years. The poet William Wordsworth lived just up the hill at Rydal Mount from 1813 until his death in 1850.

This gentle walk takes you from the A591 just north of the town, through Rydal Park and Rydal Hall to the old ‘coffin road’, which runs from the back of Rydal Mount giving good views over Rydal Water, ending at Dove Cottage, thence into Grasmere village.
Rydal Falls is located only a short distance from Rydal Mount, home of poet William Wordsworth for the final 37 years of his life, and a walk to the falls can easily be combined with a visit to Rydal Mount.
The route makes use of the waterside trails on the southern side of the lake before picking up a section of the popular Coffin Route on the northern side.
